In the 1991 ESP catalog the first Mirage with Skull & Crossbone inlays and also the first M2.
(n.b. the "2" doesn't mean two humbuckers but 2nd version of the line "M" called M1 until now. In the 1991 catalog you can see M2 series with 1 humbuckers and 1 single coil)

-- front of headstock: "ESP" light grey/gold glittered logo, "Custom" light grey
-- back of headstock: "ESP CUSTOM GUITARS" black circle logo
-- serial number: XXXXX (5 digits) punched on the bolt plate in the neck. (The date of manufacture is write on pencil on the body of the guitar where is joined to the neck...you have to unscrew the neck).
